Topic: Amlaith

 Characters from the Campaign
Currently, Amlaith is writing his second tome of Hutaakan lore and history, a collage of translations from ancient Hutaakan scrolls he took back from his journeys and of the tales and clues he gathered in the last year.
Aktar is though to be still travelling with his only friend, the dwarf Thor.
He and Galdor were friends since Almaith was a child, but the bard had no choice but to leave his friend when Galdor betrayed the group.

Waiting for a king like you
Amlaith clearly retained enough authority, and support, to prevent his brothers from dividing the kingdom into two smaller realms.
The title vanished with Earendur, or else went into title escrow.
Although Amlaith's people most likely never fully abandoned their knowledge of Quenya, the abandonment of High Elven names for the kings implies that the ancient language of the loremasters was no longer important.

 The Division of Arnor
The Red Book goes on to describe the boundaries of the new realms, Arthedain, Rhudaur, and Cardolan and their hostile relations.
In our recent history, Celtic society demanded that a king be pure of body and without physical blemish.
The possibility that Amlaith was not Earendur’s son, i.e the result of an affair by his mother, is unlikely because the unbroken descent of the chieftains of the Northern Dunedain from Elendil is an important thread of Tolkien’s story.

Amlaith's failure or refusal to claim the High Kingship upon his father's death was probably a reflection of the political realities of his day.
Hence, the fact that Amlaith began his reign as merely a King of Arnor may have given his brothers and their supporters a pretext for seceding from Arnor.
Amlaith would be firmly set against reconciliation with the Black Numenoreans, and had no desire to set out upon wars of conquest.

Fornost was over-run in 1974 T.A. and Arvedui fled with the stones of Annuminas and Amon Sul.
In Appendix A it says that: "the Tower of Amon Sul held the chief Palantir of the North, and the other two were both in the keeping of Arthedain." Arnor was divided in 861 T.A. on the death of Earendur (and the succession of 'Amlaith of Fornost' his eldest son).
Also, the wording 'Elrond's ship' seems to indicate that Cirdan did not board the ship.] The Annuminas stone at some point must have been moved from there to Fornost.
