Druids of Paranor - New High Druid
His new companion was an aging Gnome Hunter called Traxis, and with Traxis was unearthed a dark stain upon the history of the Third Council of the Druids; an ancient hermit deep in the forests of the Eastland with an apprentice of his own.
There was but one area of the world not yet explored by Anduin at this point in time, and now that his cropped brown locks had turned a brilliant white, Anduin drifted into the Westland and to Wing Hove, where for many years to come, he slept.
The hunter from the shadows had much to teach those unfamiliar with that aspect of life, the murderer had a tale to tell; circumstances beyond control which led them to that choice--even the traitor felt a genuine remorse for their decision.

 River Gift by Carla Jane
The handsome blond human that lay cradled within the magical wood was not the source of evil that Anduin had sensed in the world, but the miasma of that evil had brushed him.
Fortunately, a love-inspired blessing that had been bestowed on the man's brow and her own cleansing waters had preserved the blond's soul.
She had something stored in one of her magical caches that bore this man's mark and Anduin decided to return it.

My main textual reasons for thinking Anduin is quite large is the statement by Celeborn (I think) to the effect that a company with baggage can not cross it without boats "between Lorien and Gondor", and that it is described as being a 'long bowshot' in width, i.e.
Obviously *he* gave a damn, and you'd be amazed at how many people think his books are better because of it, how many love those books *because* of this attention to detail.
Perhaps you can find an answer for that, but until you do, your story-internal reason doesn't hold water and is just a way of saying that you don't give a damn, and that there's no reason for anyone to give a damn either.
