Topic: Blue Wizards

Wizards (Middle-earth) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is hinted in the essay in Unfinished Tales that the Blue Wizards (see below) may have fallen prey to these temptations.
Two of these, the Blue Wizards, went into the East and do not come into the stories of Middle-earth.
Gandalf was gray, Radagast was brown, and two of them, Pallando and Alatar, were blue.

The Fantasy Forum - The five wizards???
In it, Gandalf is stated to be the only successful Istar, which first hints at the idea that the Blue Wizards failed their mission: "Indeed, of all the Istari, only one remained faithful, and he was the last-comer" (Unfinished Tales).
In this text Tolkien does begin to create a little story for the Blue Wizards, or at least an explanation of their fates, somewhat like that given in the first Unfinished Tales text, though here their failure is given as the more likely outcome.
I didn't critisis anyone, I merely asked him politly, to keep his posts on topic, this might be the Gen Tolk forum, but it is the five wizards thread, not the "everybody else that was a miniscule character thread".

 Other Beings of Middle-earth
Radagast was an honest Wizard and he did not realize that Saruman was deceiving him and using him to lay a trap for Gandalf.
While his affinity with nature was useful to Gandalf, overall it appears that Radagast neglected his mission to assist the peoples of Middle-earth in their struggle against Sauron.
He had a long brown beard, bright blue eyes, and a red face creased with laughter.

 Gandalf and the Istari
The word ‘istar(i)’ is the high-elven (Quenya) translation for ‘wizard’.
The Istari took interest in all things and affairs of the peoples of Middle Earth, which was another common aspect of the ‘wizard’ image.
He wore a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, and a silver scarf.

This comes from Tokien's "Unfinished Tales" in the chapter called "The Istari." For a more detailed understanding of the maiar and the gods of Middle Earth I would suggest The Silmarillion.
From there, they did not return and much has been rumoured about their fate.

Weather they met their doom on the sea or arrived in the West and immediately perished is not known, but never did they come back to the lands of Middle Earth.
Since this concerns the Third Age and the War of the Ring, it isn't chronicled in The SilmarillionIn Unfinished Tales, the arrival of the Istari (Wizards) is detailed.

 Wizards Try To Save Middle-earth
The major manifestation of sin in a wizard, should it occur, is impatience.
He is still forbidden to match his power directly against Sauron but can act as an angel in an emergency, such as rescuing Faramir, confronting the Lord of the Nazgul at the gates of Minas Tirith, and saving Frodo and Sam on Mt. Doom.

"Wizard is a translation of Quenya istar (Sindarin ithron): one of the members of an "order" (as they call it), claiming to possess, and exhibiting, eminent knowledge of the history and nature the World."(ibid.)
This says both that the number was hard, if not impossible to tell for outsiders, because it was intentionally kept hidden (from Sauron), and that there very clearly were five.
The nature of the Heren Istarion, the order of the wizards, is also explained in UT:

It might be (though this is the merest guess) that Orome of the Valar had the greatest knowledge of the further parts of Middle-earth, and that the Blue Wizards were destined to journey in those regions and to remain there." So you see, even Christopher is left to speculate
