Central to the story is a battle between good and evil; concepts, which Mr Sibley believes, are not abstract, but derived from the author's real life experiences.
Mr Sibley believes that the tale's appeal may lie in its ability to transport the reader into another world.
Selling somewhere in excess of 100 million copies the tale has since grown to be an international bestseller.

Amazon.com: Books: The Making of the Movie Trilogy (The Lord of the Rings)
The chapter where you become truly amazed at how Brian Sibley can make every single aspect of the production of "The Lord of the Rings" fascinating is Chapter 8: Hobbit Hair and Wizards Whiskers.
The bonuses include quotes from the actors on their costars and a hilarious interview with Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd ("I need a hug!" "Not NOW!") in which they comment on the sexiness of their hobbit armor, the maturation of their characters, and Billy falling into a cactus.
Don't get this book confused with Sibley's FIRST "Making of Lord of the Rings" book.

If only I had tried to meet him A Year later, by the way, illustrator Pauline Baynes (whom I got to know and with whom I am still great friends) added her signature to that much treasured edition of Tom Bombadil.
The non-chronological telling of the tale; the need to intertwine three or four major story threads; the fact that some important characters, such as Arwen, are not fully rounded in the text, Need I go on?!
Recently Heren istarion had the pleasure of asking Brian Sibley, author of The Lord of the Rings: The Making of the Movie Trilogy and also behind The Lord of the Rings BBC Radio Dramatization, a number of questions concerning his book, his thoughts on the film, and on Tolkien himself.

There may be more than a touch of the dominatrix about the Ice Queen; nothing salacious though about these adult editions!
I suppose itÂ’s no bad thing because not every adult has a tame child that theyÂ’re going to be reading the book to, so I suppose itÂ’s a nice way for them perhaps to come across a book they didnÂ’t have a chance to read themselves as children.

 Brian Sibley Biography
Mrs Bertoletti (for that was she, and I am forever in her debt) passed us the Christopher Robin and Pooh books (first editions, I dare say they were) on Extended Loan.
I was read them until (as the real Christopher Robin and many other children have done) I could quote them verbatim: until the verses about 'Sir Brian, Sir Brian' (my name!) and the Sayings and Hums of Pooh were part of our daily conversation.
Then, the loan came to an end and the books went back.

John Howe and Brian Sibley, The Maps of Tolkien's Middle-Earth
Indeed, his fictional languages were the inception of his great works of Middle-earth, while the maps he drew were ever considered a necessity.
There were two things that evolved in tandem as Tolkien came to write his fictional works: the language of his made-up world, and its topography.
In their intention to honor, they have not failed: there is no doubt that these maps are beautiful.
