Middle Earth is populated by humans, wizards, dwarves, elves, and all other manner of fantasy beings, both good and evil.
Some were evil, but I list them here because the Good come first in the list, and it is nice to know that in Middle Earth, men, in general, are good.
In the novel, there are MANY adventures in this journey, all of which reveal the character and strength of the dwarves and hobbit and introduce the magical kingdom of Middle Earth.

Away from Middle Earth and back here at Fessenden, the Wargs, Gnomes and Wizards were played by fourth grade boys in the P.A.C. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien would have been thrilled to see these young actors perform the most fascinating piece of literature he ever created.
At the edge of the forest, in the Misty Mountains, in a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit, better known to Wargs and Gnomes in Middle Earth as Bilbo Baggins.
The story of The Hobbit, as we all know, is quite involved with plots continuously unraveling and unusual characters popping up from behind fir trees and boulders.

 Wikinfo Middle-earth
Middle-earth is the continent on J. Tolkien's fictional ancient Earth where most of his tales take place.
Tolkien's great mythological tales of Middle-earth are meant to be taken, fictitiously, as an ancient history of the Earth, particularly of Europe, from several thousand years before the lands took their present shape.
This because Aman was removed from Arda, and the Eastlands were unknown, and thus 'Middle-earth' was the only known part of the world.

 JUDEO-ITALIAN KINAH
This is due to the fact that some of these holidays—e.g., Pesah, (the Jewish Passover), Shavu'ot and Sukkot —must occur during particular seasons, and the seasons are determined by the annual revolutions of the earth as it turns around the Sun.
Various elegiac poems of this type were written in the Middle Ages.
