In 1978, I concieved of an idea of producing a Middle Earth Flag Chart.
His works, The Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the other ancillary books about elves, dwarves and especially hobbits, are filled with the languages, customs, lore, and especially the emblems of this mythological realm.

Dwarves, men, hobbits, orcs, and the other races of Middle-earth are seemingly devoid of "inherent power", and can not perform magical effects.
The Númenóreans created swords with spells on them, and the dwarves made the Helm of Hador and used runes of power.
