Fall of Gondolin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A partial new version of "The Fall of Gondolin" was published in the Unfinished Tales under the title "Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin".
In the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, the "Fall of Gondolin" is the name of one of the original Lost Tales which formed the basis for a section in his later work, The Silmarillion.
Actually titled "Of Tuor and the Fall of Gondolin", this narrative shows a great expansion of the earlier tale.

 Encyclopedia of Arda: Gondolin
Morgoth's servants finally discovered Gondolin through the treachery of Maeglin, and it was sacked in I 510.
Turgon was lost in the Fall of the city, but some few (including Tuor and Idril, with their child Eärendil) escaped the destruction and dwelt as Exiles at the Mouths of Sirion.
The time was coming, though, when Morgoth would break the Siege of Angband, and the unstoppable doom of the Elves would fall upon them.

 Legolas of Gondolin
These women were exceptionally beautiful "as fair as the sun and as lovely as the moon and brighter than the stars" according to BoLT 2 "Fall of Gondolin".
And yet again, Legolas may have been dropped from the Silmarillion in the same manner a huge host of other details were dropped, to fit into one book the notes that became the twelve volumes of Histories of Middle-earth and the Unfinished Tales.
Legolas of the Fellowship was probably taken by JRRT from an earlier idea of a keen-eyed Legolas Greenleaf who was a guide in Book of Lost Tales 2, an elf of Gondolin.

Once the Fall of Gondolin was ready even a further stage of refinement in the texts was pursued and The Tale of Gondolin was written out in full.
Completed in detail the Tale of Gondolin was presented to the Vice President of the Tolkien Society with an explanation of the Song cycle and its genesis.
Subjects for the songs were drawn from the many incidents in the Tale of Gondolin.

But fairer than all the wonders of Gondolin was Idril, Turgon's daughter, she that was called Celebrindal, the Silver-foot, whose hair was as the gold of Laurelin before the coming of Melkor.
Yet to none were his [Maeglin's] eyes more often drawn than to Idril the King's daughter, who sat beside him; for she was as golden as the Vanyar, her mother's kindred, and she seemed to him as the sun from which all the King's hall drew its light.

I settled on the two versions - Of Tuor and His Coming to Gondolin from Unfinished Tales and The Fall of Gondolin from The Book of Lost Tales Vol 2.
The results were three stories that pertained to both Tuor's journey to Gondolin and the Fall of Gondolin.
I recall reading about Turgon's sister leaving Gondolin, her finding and marrying a "dark elf", and then the subsequent return to Gondolin by (at least) the "dark elf" and Maeglin.

Infact the Iliad is comparable to Gondolin's fall through certain characters, mythological motifs, and plot.

Then there is Tuor's wife, Idril, who can be seen as Helen even though she is married to the hero and not a Menalus-like character.
