Wensicia was the mother of Farad'n, the future companion of Ghanima Atreides, and Irulan became the wife (in name only) of Paul Atreides who ousted the Emperor to assume the mantle of power himself.
There were no more Corrino Emperors, or Atreides emperors for that matter.
Farad'n Corrino, grandson of Shaddam IV and last hope for a new Corrino Emperor, made a bid for the throne (spurred on by his mother Princess Wensicia).

The underlying deepness of most books in the series never ceases to amaze me. While "House Atreides" is a nice read and does a decent job at filling in some of the gaps in the original series, it fails to capture that mysterious deepness of the originals.
Many of the plots and characters appear glaringly shallow when compared to the originals.
I read the original Dune series several times in my younger years and even now and then I pick a random book from the series.
