The Reading Room Lord of the Rings Reading and Writing Workshop
The Ring of Air, Vilya, shone like a star upon his slender finger, and his hand was never far from the hilt of a dagger.
He would not be able to bear possibly having to watch her die.
He tried to reorganize his thoughts, but his friend’s words had scattered them into complete disarray.

He couldn't be related to Thranduil because him being Sindarin, and from what Tolkien has told us in the LR Appendices, he traveled eastwards from Lindon to occupy the Woodland Realm of Mirkwood.
The word Sindar was eventually used as an umbrella term which included the Falathrim, the Laiquendi and the Nandor of Ossiriand.
Lenwe's son Denethor led part of the Nandor on over into Ossiriand and created the Laiquendi.

 The Rangers of Thintaur
Others passed through Rohan and settled Eriador and the Bay of Belfalas.
Some of the Laiquendi followed Thingol and lived in Doriath while those that returned to Ossiriand with tragic tidings filled the rest of their people with fear.
There the Laiquendi slew them in great numbers, angered that Thingol and their fellow Sindar elves had been slain by the dwarves.

Ossiriand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
North of Ossiriand lay the land of Thargelion, and south of the river Adurant later lay the Land of the Dead that Live, where Lúthien and Beren lived their second lives.
In the early First Age before the rise of the Moon, a part of the Telerin Elven people called Nandor entered Ossiriand under their leader Denethor, and were given permission by Thingol to settle the lands.
Ossiriand was the only part of Beleriand that survived the War of Wrath, but Belegaer the Great Sea broke through the mountain chain at the former riverbed of Ascar, creating the Gulf of Lhûn.

Elves in Beleriand Lord of the Rings Fanatics Library
But when they attempted to return to Nogrod, they were slain themselves, by the elves of Ossiriand, ents and also Beren and his son Dior.
Their leader was Denethor, son of Lenwë, Fearing the evil creatures from the north, they came to Beleriand, where they had heard of Thingol as a great and powerful king.
The latter went to Menegroth, and since he was the grandson of Thingol, the Sindar were glad to receive him, and they took him as their new king.

 Elenloth Celebriel
He was the eldest son of an Ossiriand Lord, but his father (Arthagil) lived until the downfall of Beleriand, so he never succeeded his father.
Vingalluin doesn't become High King of the Noldor after the death of Gil-Galad because he had renounced his Noldorin blood--even though his grandmother was 1/2 Noldor and the daughter of Finwë.
He grew up in Ossiriand, and they met when she was bearing a message to the Lords there.

The First Battle of Beleriand Lord of the Rings Fanatics Library
Many of the Elves from Ossiriand now settled in Thingol's realm and were counted among his people.
Even though Thingol avenged Denethor's death many times around, his people constantly grieved him and they did not crown a new king.
This land, which previously had been called Eglador, was thereafter called Doriath.

Birth: 1491 YT History: She was born in Ossiriand not long after the Nandor settled there.
She has had a peaceful and pleasant youth in the forest under the stars, but has always been curious to visit the great Menegroth and see other parts of the lands west of the mountains.
The tidings carried back to Ossiriand caused fear so the Laiquendi never went to open war but relied on secrecy.

A Forgotten Past 19 By Lady Galadriel
I’ll EVEN give you this bit of information: North of Middle Earth, there was a land known as Beleriand (It was mentioned in Elrond’s story of Elsenya.).
Ossiriand used to be a part of that land.
When Beleriand was destroyed, all that was left was a small part of Ossiriand, and it floated down and joined with the known part of Middle Earth.

 Duilwen - Tolkien Gateway
The Duilwen was the last-but-one of these to flow into the great south-flowing river; only the Adurant was further south.
One of the six rivers that flowed west through Ossiriand to meet Gelion.

Well, it's true that the Green-elves of Ossiriand didn't eat meat, but they're about the only ones...
Most people think the Elves were vegetarians, although nothing could be farther from the truth.

 Bambooweb: Lindon
Lindon as a name survived from the First Age, when it was a name given to Ossiriand after this land was settled by the Laiquendi or Green Elves.
Lindon meant "Land of the singers", after the old name Lindar (singers) for the Teleri.

 The Shire Fellowship
Lenwe, one leader of the Elves who forsook the great march (as was told earlier) had a son Denethor who made his way with his people over the blue mountains and settled in Ossiriand, the Land of Seven Rivers.
After Denethor died his people never took a king again and hid themselves in Ossiriand with clever garment.
They were called the Green-elves after the color of their garment.

Adurant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The name means Doublestream in Sindarin, referring to a parting of the river about the isle of Tol Galen.
In Tolkien's The Silimarillion, the river Adurant ran from southern Ered Luin into the river Gelion, marking the southern boundary of Ossiriand.

Beleriand Details, Meaning Beleriand Article and Explanation Guide
Beleriand had many different names in Tolkien's early writings (see: The History of Middle-earth): Broceliand, Broseliand, Golodhinand, Noldórinan, Geleriand, Bladorinand, Belaurien, Arsiriand, Lassiriand, Ossiriand (the latter was later used as a name for another realm).
The River Brethin and the River Nenning were the two lesser rivers of the western land of Falas.
(The river sank into the ground at the Fens of Sirion, and reemerged below the Andram at the Gates of Sirion.) To the east of the Long Wall, was the River Gelion and its six tributaries draining the Ered Luin, in an area known as Ossiriand or the Land of Seven Rivers.
