Graves himself notes the consistency with which Electra is favourably contrasted with her weak-willed sister Chrysothemis: when Aegisthus forces Electra into marriage with a Mycenaean peasant, hoping to humble her into "accept[ing] her fate" [6] as her sister had done, he succeeds only in strengthening her resolve and intensifying her desire for vengeance.
The final line of The Oxford Classical Dictionary's entry on Electra asserts: "It is fairly clear that the development of [Electra's] story is due to the poets...
From this dearth of factual tradition, however, myriad poetic and mythic traditions of Electra have sprung -- among these both the desperate and monomaniacal women inventoried in The Oxford Classical Dictionary and the fierce, tenacious and resolute figure of Robert Graves" The Greek Myths.

The Oxford Classical Dictionary (OCD) was considered to be the best one-volume dictionary on antiquity, but the second edition (1970) was getting on a bit, not only concerning the level of current research, but also the fact that the second edition of the OCD contained much taken over from the first edition (1949).
But many questions of Classics and ancient history can be answered with it and it is really good value.
For instance, "Achilleus Tatios" in DNP doesn't mention a translation -- the OCD presents two English and one German translation.
