According to Huang Runhua, a research fellow in the Rare Book Preservation Sector of the National Library, the copied edition of the encyclopedia was kept in the Imperial Academy of the Ming Dynasty, where some of the volumes were stolen by officials of the Qing Dynasty in addition to those looted by the foreign armies.
These hypotheses all seem incorrect to Luan, who believes that Emperor Jiajing's death and the encyclopedia's disappearance happening at the same time was not a coincidence.
He has discovered that the books stolen by the Eight-Power Forces were all volumes of the copied version.
